Girl in Motion community — migrant women in Aotearoa

About Girl in Motion

Being a migrant
is your superpower.

Girl in Motion is a movement for migrant women in Aotearoa. We blend storytelling, tech, and community to celebrate the women building a brighter New Zealand.

Starting over takes courage. We're here to walk beside you.

Packing your bags, leaving people you love, and rebuilding your life in a new place takes enormous strength. But even when it feels exciting, starting again can still be scary, lonely, and overwhelming.

Many migrant women arrive with rich skills, stories, and dreams — yet feel unseen, uncertain of where to start, or like they're always "behind." These women already have what they need. What they often lack is a safe, human space to apply it.

Without that support, too many stay stuck in work that doesn't reflect their full potential. When they do find it, they don't just change their own lives — they help Aotearoa grow richer, kinder, and more alive.

"We're not here to give you something you lack. We're here to remind you — everything you need is already within you."
— Nat, Founder · Girl in Motion
We believe
  • Action brings clarity and helps overcome self-doubt.
  • Courage isn't always loud — it shows up in small decisions.
  • Your migrant identity is a strength, not a weakness.
  • When migrant women thrive, all of Aotearoa thrives.

In the noise of starting over as a migrant woman,
you can forget how
extraordinary you are.

What we do

Three ways we show up.

01
Storytelling

Her Migrant Spirit

The narrative around migrant women needs to change. We are not a problem to be solved — we are entrepreneurs, leaders, mothers, and innovators. Her Migrant Spirit puts our stories front and centre: bold, powerful, and real. Because when a young migrant woman sees someone who looks like her thriving, it changes what she believes is possible for herself.

02
Community

A place to belong

Starting over is less lonely when you're not doing it alone. We create in-person events, workshops, and gatherings where migrant women can meet, learn, and grow together — without the pressure to have it all figured out. Come as you are.

What we stand for

Our values

Proudly Migrant

Being a migrant is a strength, not a problem to fix. Every woman deserves to be seen and respected exactly as she is.

Success on your terms

There is no "right" way to be a business owner. Whether it's a side hustle or an empire, your ambition is valid. We meet you where you are.

Courage in small steps

Courage is found in the small wins: sending that first email, attending a hui, or practising your pitch. These are the moments that move the needle.

Business should be fun

Joy is a legitimate part of the business plan. We believe in creating ventures that feel good for your whanau, your body, and your spirit.

Community, not competition

We lead with whanaungatanga and manaakitanga. We create spaces where your success fuels mine, turning a lonely journey into a collective one.

Tech with a heart

Technology should feel human and kind, not cold or intimidating. We use digital tools with aroha to create a positive impact for our communities.

Nat, Founder of Girl in Motion
Nat Founder · Girl in Motion

Hi, I'm Nat.

Argentine roots, Aotearoa heart, 24 years in between. I'm a mum of three, a migrant, and the founder of Girl in Motion.

In 2014 I quit the corporate world, built a business that completely changed my life, and never looked back. Now I want the same for you.

I built Girl in Motion because I kept looking for a space that celebrated migrant women like us and couldn't find one. So I stopped looking and started building.

"What makes you different makes you extraordinary. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."

Can't wait to meet you.  Nat x
